Rob has a Bachelor of Commerce and is the product of a family that has three generations of experience running successful recycling ventures.

A driving force in both biomass and metal recycling for 30 years, Rob sold his first recycling business to a stock exchange listed entity (Metalcorp, later part of Smorgon) over 25 years ago at just 25 years of age, becoming their State Steel Recycling Manager, and taking that entity to great heights, whilst still owning and running a small timber pallet and timber recycling operation.

Rob then left Smorgon after 7 years to give his total focus to timber recycling. 

Always entrepreneurial, he developed from the ground up Direct BioBedding (a type of fresh rice grained sized wood based litter) for the chicken and racehorse industries, and Direct BioFuel for biomass boilers. All based on recycling waste timber, including damaged and waste pallets, timber packaging and truss offcuts.

Clients included Inghams Chicken (with BioBedding) and for BioFuel, Delta Electricity and even South Korea. That business became a powerhouse industry leader recycling tens thousands of tonnes of timber pallets and waste timber annually.

In so doing Rob received EPA backing, special approvals, and an environmental award for his work.

The Perich family of Leppington Pastoral pursued Rob to purchase half of the business, and then just a few years after, the highly successful Borg Group purchased the whole Direct Group operation.

Seizing on a gap in the market, Rob then began this venture, simply and appropriately called Australian Biomass.

Rob works closely with all users and suppliers in the biomass field.

He particularly works with the highly reputable biomass boiler company Justsen Pacific, who supply quality Danish made Justsen units to clients in Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific.

Utilising renewable Australian biomass to reduce emissions and power businesses with carbon neutral and cheaper energy for steam, hot air, hot water, and power, has now become Rob’s passion.
